About me:
I am a fully bilingual (French) 28 year old mother to a wonderful 4 year old. In 2009, I obtained a diploma in Theater Arts from Algonquin College. There I learned how to channel my creativity and express myself through art. After the birth on my son, I discovered my true passion: children and child development. Through this discovery I was driven to complete several courses in order to obtain my diploma in Early Childhood education. In order to be a reliable caregiver, I am currently doing my studies online. I have a police record check, and am CPR/First aid trained. I have been fortunate enough to work in a licensed daycare with children ages 18 months to 5 years old for the past 3. 5 years, where I gained a lot of experience and overcame challenges to become an enthusiastic, dedicated, fun, and nurturing caregiver.
My philosophy:
Children are natural learners. They are curious about the world, and my job is to encourage that curiosity in order for the children to maintain a love of learning. I believe in safety first, and so I ensure that learning materials/lessons are always age appropriate. I believe in consistency, as well as routine. Sometimes, a little spontaneity is in order. When it comes to discipline, my philosophy is to redirect towards improved behavior, especially in the earlier years. In other words: I do not like the word "No. ". I try to abstain from using it as much as possible. Instead, I suggest a different approach, such as "Why don't we collect some rocks, instead of throwing them?" or by encouraging them to express their feelings in a healthy manor.
